Information on identity card, passport and registration matters

If you move into a new home within our district, you must register yourself and all persons moving with you at the registration office (moving into the district) or re-register (moving within the district). You can pre-register your move online, but you can also visit the registration office in person without pre-registration.

Necessary documents

• Landlord confirmation
• If applicable, declaration of consent from the legal guardians for the relocation of a minor child

Statutory deadlines in accordance with Section 17 (1) of the Federal Registration Act

• Registration with the responsible registration office within 2 weeks of moving in

Fees

Deregistration under registration law is only necessary if you are moving out of a flat and not moving into a new flat in Germany. You can deregister at the earliest 7 days before you move out.

The document must be applied for in person at the authority by the legal guardian. The presence of the child is also required! The documents are valid for 6 years. It is also possible to issue temporary documents with limited validity.

• Current biometric photo of the child (digital passport photos can also be taken directly at the registration office for a fee of €10.71 if the child is 80 cm or taller)
• Previous identity document of the child, if applicable
• If applicable, declaration of consent to apply for identity documents for a minor child

When applying for an "identity card under the age of 16"

• For children under the age of 16, the application must be made by the legal guardian.
• The child must be present in person when the application is made.
• If applicable, declaration of consent to apply for identity documents for a minor child

For "Passport under 18" applications

• For children under the age of 18, the application must be made by the legal guardian.
• The child must be present in person when the application is made.
• If applicable, declaration of consent to apply for identity documents for a minor child

Certificates of good conduct certify previous convictions or freedom from previous convictions. They are divided into simple, extended and/or official certificates of good conduct.
